A public backyard ultra at Scoutinglandgoed Zeewolde, held alongside the Netherlands World Team Championship satellite. Runners repeat the same forest loop by day and night.

Edition note: Sold out. The organizer's ticket and programme text give a 14:00 start on October 17, but its session list puts the national-team world championship at 14:00 and the public Dutch Backyard Ultra at 14:30, so entrants should confirm their start time. The organizer has room for 300 runners and keeps the event window open through October 24; there is no fixed finish.

World Backyard Ultra Team Championship

Bell Buckle, Tennessee, USA (and worldwide satellite sites) · Trail

The premier backyard ultra team event. National teams of up to 15 runners compete simultaneously at satellite sites worldwide. Each runner completes 4.167-mile loops every hour. The country with the most total loops wins.

Edition note: At 07:59 UTC on October 20, the organizer’s live feed had recorded up to 68 yards. Australia led with 975 team yards, ahead of Japan (923), the United States (922) and Belgium (914). Reporting was uneven between nations, so these are provisional snapshot totals. Of 67 national races, 52 had a winner and Spain’s had been stopped for severe weather; 14 remained open. Germany had 619 yards, with Niko Langner and Martin Stiller still running. No final world classification or end date is confirmed.

Ultra X South Africa

A six-stage, 330 km expedition through the Western Cape's valleys, vineyards, remote gorges, mountain passes, and Cederberg wilderness.

Edition note: The October 19–24, 2026 edition is underway. Applications for the 2027 MAX close November 1, 2026; selection starts November 2 and acceptance is confirmed by email. The 2027 field is capped at 100 runners. No unconfirmed 2027 race date is listed here.

International Ultramarathon Festival — Loutraki

The 21st International Ultramarathon Festival, an IAU Bronze Label track meeting at the Loutraki Municipal Stadium. Features 48-hour, 24-hour, and 12-hour races on a 400 m track, branded by the organizer as World Cup races.

Edition note: The organizer confirms October 22–24, 2026. Its homepage gives an October 3 application deadline, while the information page describes on-site registration with inconsistent opening and cutoff times. Confirm acceptance directly before travelling; late entry is not assured.

The Endless Mile

A 72-hour, 48-hour, and 24-hour festival on a certified, paved, lighted 1.00203-mile loop at Veterans Park.

Edition note: Online registration closed October 19 at 11:59 PM Central Time. The organizer explicitly rules out late or race-day entry. The October 22–25 schedule is unchanged.

Weekend at Burney

Cassel, near Burney, California, USA · Trail

A relaxed 48-hour and 24-hour trail race on a loop of about 4.6 to 4.8 miles past Baum Lake near Burney, California, with about 370 ft of climbing per lap, plus a 12-hour race and a burro race on Saturday.

Edition note: Online registration closed Saturday, October 17 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time; the October 1 swag deadline has also passed. The organizer's pages describe the loop as about 4.8 miles, while the runner's guide and the UltraSignup race names say 4.6 miles; the guide counts 21 loops as 100 miles.

Cactus Rose 100 Mile

Hill Country State Natural Area, Bandera, Texas, USA · Trail

Four 25-mile loops of rocky Hill Country trail near Bandera, alternating direction each lap, with unstaffed aid stations that supply only water and ice and a 44-hour limit.

Edition note: Registration is open on RunSignup (checked October 12): the 100-mile fee is $245 through October 14 at 11:59 PM CDT, then rises, and online entry closes at the 4:00 PM CDT start on October 23. Cactus Rose is capped at 500 runners across all distances. The 100-miler starts Friday afternoon; the 50-, 25- and 5-mile races start Saturday morning.

Día de los Muertos Endurance Run

South Beach State Park, Newport, Oregon, USA · Mixed

A timed loop race at South Beach State Park in Newport, Oregon, with 48-, 24-, 12- and 6-hour races and team relays on a 3,856 m loop of mostly flat trail with some pavement, held beside a Día de los Muertos ofrenda.

Edition note: Registration on UltraSignup closes Thursday, October 22 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time, and prices rise after October 15. The free T-shirt was guaranteed only for entries made by October 12. The organizer's event page still carries 2025 dates in its title, but its race calendar and UltraSignup give October 23–25, 2026.

Laufwochenende Brugg

Brugg, Aargau, Switzerland · Road

A 48-hour race with 24-, 12- and 6-hour options on a lit, fully paved 934 m loop on the Aare island at Geissenschachen in Brugg, doubling as the Swiss 48-, 24- and 6-hour championships.

Edition note: The 19th edition. Regular entry closes Wednesday, October 14 (48 hours CHF 220, 24 hours CHF 150); after that a CHF 20 late fee applies. Online entry stays open until October 22, with on-site entry after that, and the organizer says no race is sold out. On October 12 the RaceResult list showed 36 runners in the 48-hour race and 26 in the 24-hour race. The organizer has not linked a 2026 live results page.

No Business 100

Pickett CCC Memorial State Park, Jamestown, Tennessee, USA · Trail

A single 100.2-mile loop from Pickett CCC Memorial State Park through the Big South Fork into Kentucky and back, run counterclockwise in 2026, with about 14,500 ft of climbing and a 34-hour limit.

Edition note: The 2026 race is full on RunSignup (checked October 12); a waitlist is open and registration closes October 21 at 11:59 PM CDT. The 2026 runner’s manual, last updated September 29, uses a 100.2-mile counterclockwise course; the homepage still lists 102 miles. Piney Butte became a no-crew aid station (drop bags still allowed) on September 29, and the September 19 training run was cancelled. RunSignup shows a 7:00 AM–5:00 PM CDT event window, but the manual sets an 8:00 AM CT start and 6:00 PM CT finish.

Běh na 24 hodin Plzeň

Plzeň, Czechia · Track

A 24-hour race on the athletics track of Plzeň’s municipal stadium in Skvrňany, run alongside 12-hour, 100 km and marathon races, with times also taken at the marathon and 100-mile marks.

Edition note: The 10th edition. Online entry was open on October 12, when 20 runners were on the 24-hour entry list. The fee is 1,300 CZK for the 24-hour, 12-hour or 100 km race and 520 CZK for the marathon, paid by bank transfer by October 20. The organizer has not published a 2026 live results page.

ISOPOL Super24

Veszprém, Hungary · Track

A 24-hour race on a closed 400 m synthetic track in Veszprém, held with 12- and 6-hour races and doubling as the Hungarian 24-hour championship. It is part of the Central-European Ultra Series (CEUS).

Edition note: On October 12 the organizer’s entry page listed the 24-hour individual race as closed except for Hungarian championship entries; the 12-hour race was still open at 30,000 HUF. Each individual race is capped at 60 runners. The organizer promises live coverage and online results, but no 2026 live results page was published on October 12.

Rim to River 100

New River Gorge, West Virginia, USA · Trail

A 100-mile out-and-back through New River Gorge with repeated rim-to-river traverses, 12,000 ft of climbing, and a 32-hour cutoff.

Edition note: The 100-mile race is sold out with a free waitlist; UltraSignup registration closes October 17 at 11:59 PM ET. The organizer's course description still uses the Rend Trail around the Thurmond aid station (miles 14–20), which the National Park Service closed on August 3, 2026 for rehabilitation, with reopening estimated for fall or winter 2027. No reroute had been announced on October 12.

Salt Creek 24

A scenic 24-hour endurance race at Salt Creek Recreation Area on the Olympic Peninsula, on a 1.4-mile loop of paved and unpaved surfaces. Also offers a 12-hour solo race, 24-hour relay teams and an hourly Last Runner Standing up Striped Peak.

Edition note: Registration is open. It closes October 24 at 11:59 AM PDT for the 12-hour race and at 11:59 PM PDT for the 24-hour, relay, Last Runner Standing and pacer entries. Current prices: 24-hour $99, 12-hour $89, Last Runner Standing $99, relay $79 per member.

Smurf's Backyard Ultra

Smithfield, Cairns, Australia · Trail

A Cairns backyard ultra on the trails of Smithfield Mountain Bike Park, with hourly starts and a separate six-lap introductory event.

Edition note: Entries are open at the late fee of $200 until October 22. The backyard and the six-lap Mini Backyard share a cap of 250 entries. The organizer's pages give the climb per lap as about 95 m on the event page and about 125 m on the course page.

Snowman Race

Laya, Gasa, to Chamkhar, Bumthang, Bhutan · Mountain

A five-day stage race for selected, invited runners along Bhutan's Snowman Trek, from Laya in Gasa to Chamkhar in Bumthang, covering about 175 km with passes up to 5,470 m to draw attention to climate change.

Edition note: This is the third international edition. It starts in Laya on October 24, the second day of the Royal Highland Festival, and finishes at Chamkhar Sports Arena in Bumthang on October 28. There is no open registration: prospective runners contact the race director. On October 12, the organizer's athletes page listed 18 runners, 12 international and 6 from Bhutan.

Kullamannen Ultra 100 Miles

Albi 24 Heures

Albi, France · Mixed

A 24-hour race at Stadium Municipal d'Albi on a flat circuit combining the athletics track and surrounding paved paths.

Result: Sigurdur Tomas Thorisson won the 2026 Albi 24 Heures with 240.1 km (161 laps). Gita Muceniece was second overall and first woman with 231.1 km, ahead of Benoit Gourves (207.3 km). Aurelie Verrier (196.8 km) and Marie-Line Mantoux (189.4 km) were the next women.

Edition note: The 12th edition. Registration closed on October 4 and there is no on-site entry. The 24-hour and 100 km races carry FFA labels; the 2026 race is not an IAU label event, and the French 24-hour championship comes to Albi in October 2027.

Bromont Ultra 160 km

Bromont, Quebec, Canada · Trail

The 160 km trail race of the Bromont Ultra in Quebec's Eastern Townships: two laps of an 80 km loop from Ski Bromont, with 6,622 m of climbing and a 35-hour limit.

Result: Philippe Groleau won the 2026 Bromont Ultra 160 km in 18:42:49, ahead of Thomas Mathurin (19:38:51) and Jacob Couture (20:56:44). Anne Champagne was the first woman in 21:43:45, fifth overall. 51 runners finished.

Edition note: The 13th Bromont Ultra runs October 16–18, 2026, and the 160 km starts Saturday, October 17. On October 12 RunReg showed the 160 km sold out (100 regular places plus 10 fundraising bibs), with a waitlist closing October 14; the participant guide says waitlisted runners can be accepted until October 13. There are no bib transfers or deferrals, and cancellations after October 1 get no refund.

Centurion Autumn 100

Goring-on-Thames, England, UK · Trail

A 100-mile trail race from Goring-on-Thames made of four 25-mile out-and-back legs on the Thames Path and the Ridgeway, with about 5,000 ft of climbing and a 28-hour limit.

Edition note: Race full. Entries sold out on June 21, 2026, and on October 12 the organizer's entry page said the waiting list was also full, with no further way to enter. Withdrawals within four weeks of race day get no refund or deferral. Centurion's "Live" link points to Open Tracking for the 2026 race.

Ghost Train 30-Hour Ultramarathon

Camp Tevya, Brookline, New Hampshire, USA · Trail

A 30-hour race on the Granite Town Rail Trail between Brookline and Milford. Runners may stop after any completed 15-mile out-and-back; 100 miles takes six full laps plus a 10-mile seventh, and some keep going.

Result: Jason Kaplan led the 30-hour Ghost Train with 145 miles. Among entries recorded at exactly 100 miles, Austin Sena ran 18:24:15 and Caitlin Howes 19:27:50, the fastest listed men’s and women’s times at that distance.

Edition note: The October 17–18 event is complete. Its 30-hour results rank distance first; the 100-mile performances below are identified separately from runners who continued beyond 100 miles.

Gila 100

Santa Clara, near Silver City, New Mexico, USA · Trail

A 100-mile race in the Gila National Forest that covers the 50-mile out-and-back from Santa Clara to Sapillo Campground twice, following the Continental Divide Trail to nearly 9,000 ft, with roughly 14,774 ft of climbing and a 36-hour limit.

Result: Simon Holt won the 2026 Gila 100 in 27:35:14, ahead of Greg Salvesen (28:40:57). Maud Van Der Beek was first woman and third overall in 29:39:34. Fourteen of 22 starters finished.

Edition note: The October 17–18 race is complete and the 100-mile results are published. The 2026 course used two repetitions of the 50-mile out-and-back; the archived route and rules below describe that edition.

Sonoma Fall Classic 100 Mile

Lake Sonoma, Geyserville, California, USA · Trail

A new 100.5-mile, two-loop race at Lake Sonoma, with an estimated 25,058 ft of climbing and a 36-hour limit.

Result: Nick Reshetnikov won the first Sonoma Fall Classic 100 Mile in 20:01:06. Nicole Kurnik was the first woman and second overall in 20:55:25, ahead of Daniel Lingenfelter (21:22:52) and Hunter Olson (21:50:00). 36 of the 76 starters finished.

Edition note: UltraSignup now lists October 14 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time as the online entry deadline; the organizer’s main page still says October 12 at 11:59 PM Mountain Time. Both published deadlines have passed. Confirm any late-entry option directly with the organizer.

Uwharrie 100 Mile Trail Run

Uwharrie National Forest, near Troy, North Carolina, USA · Trail

Five laps of a technical 20.5-mile figure-eight loop of rocky, rooty singletrack in North Carolina's Uwharrie National Forest, 102.5 miles in all with 17,420 ft of climbing and a 36-hour limit.

Result: Anthony Brungard won the 2026 Uwharrie 100 in 23:40:26, more than four and a half hours ahead of Brian Kochanski (28:20:27) and Bobby Johnson (28:51:57). Melissa Kennedy was the only woman to finish, eighth overall in 32:54:54. 14 of the 30 starters finished.

Edition note: Online registration closed October 10 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time, and the UltraSignup waitlist is closed too. On October 12, UltraSignup listed 39 entrants in the 100-mile race and 63 in the 100K, under the combined cap of 150. The race starts at 6:00 AM on Saturday, October 17.

Mount Yun by UTMB UMY 100M

Mount Yun, Xiangning, Linfen, Shanxi, China · Mountain

A 166 km loop from Zhonghe Square at Mount Yun through the hills, valleys, ancient villages and temples of southern Shanxi, with 7,400 m of climbing and a 48-hour limit.

Result: Xingzhi Bai of China won the 2026 UMY 100M in 21:10:07. UTMB Live lists only four finishers, all men, among 695 starters, so there is no women's result.

Edition note: Registration is closed. The race starts at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 16, and the 48-hour limit puts the finish cutoff at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 18. The English course text names Mingzhu Square as the start, but the race header, the aid-station table and the Chinese course page all put the start and finish at Zhonghe Square.

Pony Express Trail 100

Faust to Simpson Springs, Utah, USA · Road

A remote 100-mile run on western Utah dirt roads with about 3,000 ft of gain and loss; each runner must provide a support crew.

Result: Steven Wrigley won the 2026 Pony Express Trail 100 in 19:11:40. Nicole Lowe McBride was first woman and second overall in 19:37:45. UltraSignup confirms 16 ranked finishers, 18 DNFs and two unranked entries.

Edition note: The October 16–17 race is complete. The official results distinguish 16 ranked finishers from two unranked over-limit finishes; see the results below.

Skanderborg Ultra

Skanderborg, Denmark · Mixed

A 48-hour race with 24- and 12-hour options on a 1 km gravel and sidewalk loop at Dyrehaven in Skanderborg, where runners can camp beside the course. The same venue hosts the GOMU 48-Hour World Championship in September 2027.

Result: Emil Ingerslev won the 2026 Skanderborg Ultra 48-hour race with 384 km, and Katja Lykke was first woman and second overall with 352 km. Both totals are above the 48-hour course records the organizer lists (358 km and 286.652 km). Ronni Carlsen (255.059 km) and Sally Barbett (211 km) won the 24-hour race.

Edition note: Registration closed October 1 at 11:59 PM (Danish time). On October 12 the RaceResult entry list showed 81 runners in the 48-hour race, 64 in the 24-hour race and 49 in the 12-hour race. The organizer’s Live Tracking link points to the 2026 RaceResult participant page.

Diagonale des Fous

Saint-Pierre to Saint-Denis, Réunion · Mountain

The headline Grand Raid de la Réunion race crosses about 180 km of volcanic island terrain from Saint-Pierre to Saint-Denis, bypassing Cilaos in 2026.

Result: Hugo Deck won the 2026 Diagonale des Fous in 22:54:19 on his first start, ahead of Robin Juillaguet (23:51:54) and Jérôme Vanderschaeghe (24:10:35). Ruth Croft won the women's race in 27:13:23, 11th overall, ahead of Alyssa Clark and Agathe Bes.

Edition note: The 2026 route no longer passes through Cilaos. The organizer's route description leaves the Cilaos trail at the Croisée Kerveguen (km 67.6) and descends via Bélouve to Hell-Bourg, the first base camp (km 80.6), then crosses Mafate to the Maïdo and the second base at Ilet Savannah (km 140.5) before finishing at La Redoute (180.8 km). A rockfall on October 7 damaged the trail between Roche Plate and La Brèche (km 118.9) and closed it. Result: Daniel Krstulovic Opara of Croatia won the 2026 Trail Cat The Race in 95:42:23. Pirin Galov and Esteban Díaz Castañeda finished together in second in 100:13:48, and Harriet Kjaer was the first woman in 122:21:08, ninth overall. 32 of the 51 starters finished.

Edition note: The fifth edition started in Andorra la Vella on October 11 and finished in Tarragona on October 17. LiveTrail's final statistics list 51 starters from 13 countries (49 men, 2 women), 32 finishers and 18 withdrawals. The first runner to reach Tarragona, Simon Birrer, is unranked after missing a mandatory checkpoint. Registration is closed.

Hainesport Endurance Run

Midstate Massive Ultra Trail 100M

New Ipswich, New Hampshire to Douglas, Massachusetts, USA · Mixed

A New England point-to-point 100-miler following the Midstate Trail from New Hampshire to Massachusetts, with 13,615 ft of gain and a 34-hour limit from the first wave.

Result: Nick Schroeder leads the published preliminary 100-mile results in 19:58:53. Alexandria Leveille is the first woman in 26:11:16, 14th overall.

Result: Steven Larick won the 2026 Oil Creek 100 in 19:58:03, ahead of Clinton Hepler (21:53:11) and Dan McDaniel (23:17:09). Danica Williams was the first woman in 25:13:18, 10th overall. RunSignup lists 32 finishers and 25 DNFs.

48 Heures de Royan

Royan, France · Road

A French fixed-time festival on a traffic-free stadium circuit of about one kilometre, led by the 48-hour race.

Result: Rodrigo Freeman Lopez won the 2026 48 Heures de Royan with 301.4 km (264 laps), ahead of Said Bourjila with 272.8 km. Beatrice Bourlon was the first woman and third overall with 269.4 km. In the 24-hour race, Christophe Pubert led with 191.7 km and Sophie Boiron was the first woman with 167.8 km.

Edition note: The organizer lists registration as closed. The 48-hour race is October 9–11, with the 24-hour race October 10–11 and the 12-hour race on October 10. The field is capped at 130 across all three races.

Kodiak 100M

Result: Cody Poskin won the 2026 Kodiak 100M in 16:46:21, ahead of Alex Proctor (17:23:05) and Max Jolliffe (18:15:45). Nichole Abma of Canada was the first woman in 20:43:40, 11th overall. 279 of 428 starters finished.

Moab 240

Moab, Utah, USA · Desert

A single 243.5-mile loop from Moab through the Lockhart Basin and the Abajo and La Sal Mountains, with 31,696 ft of climbing and a 113-hour cutoff in 2026.

Result: Destination Trail called off the 2026 Moab 240 on the afternoon of October 11, about 56 hours after the start, because of dangerous weather: wind, rain, freezing temperatures, falling trees and aid-station structures blowing away. No runner had reached the finish, and no official placings had been published.

Edition note: The 2026 race was called off on October 11 because of severe weather, about 56 hours into the 113-hour limit. Before the race, on September 24, the organizer rerouted the Porcupine Rim to finish section around construction on Highway 128; the 2026 runner manual gave 243.5 miles and a cutoff of 11:00 PM on Tuesday, October 13, while the race website still lists the earlier 241.8 miles and 112 hours.

OG Yeti 100 Mile Endurance Run

Angeles Crest 100

The 36th Angeles Crest 100 uses a new Front Range loop from Loma Alta Park for 2026 because of Highway 2 closures and Eaton Fire impacts.

Result: Eduardo Morales won the 2026 Angeles Crest 100 in 20:12:08 on the new Front Range loop from Altadena. Taelor Smith was the first woman in 22:56:58, fifth overall. 109 of 212 starters finished.

The 245 km road race from Athens to Sparta, retracing the legendary run of Pheidippides in 490 BC. Held since 1983, with a 36-hour limit and a cutoff at every checkpoint.

Result: Tamás Bódis won his second Spartathlon in a course-record 19:40:51. Despoina Simantrakou won the women’s race in 24:45:43, finishing 13th overall. The race took place on 26–27 September from Athens to Sparta.

A spring last-one-standing backyard ultra at Domein Beverdonk in Retie, organized by Backyard Belgium vzw within the Legends Trails family. Łukasz Wróbel won it with 116 yards in 2025, a world record at the time, and again with 114 yards in 2026.

Result: Łukasz Wróbel defended his title with 114 yards (764.27 km). Oriol Antolí Sarrau provided the assist with 113 yards, Merijn Geerts reached 110 and Christophe Baud 100, and Sarah Perry was the first woman with 76 yards, 10th overall.

The Old Six Day

One of the oldest 6-day races in the United States, held at Cooper River Park. A flat, looped course that evokes the Victorian 6-day pedestrianism tradition.

Result: Thomas Joyce won the 6-day race with 405.3916 miles and Jen Britton won the women's 6-day with 241.5469 miles, from 12 finishers in the 6-day contest.

Marathon des Sables

Sahara Desert, Morocco · Desert

The 40th edition of the legendary 'Marathon of the Sands.' A 6-stage, 250km self-supported footrace through the Sahara Desert — widely considered the toughest foot race on Earth.

Result: Mohamed El Morabity won the 40th edition in 20:47:39, ahead of his brother Rachid and Ludovic Pommeret, and Maryline Nakache won the women's race in 25:54:29, with 1,350 finishers.

Myrtle Beach 24 Hour Endurance Run

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA · Road

A USATF-certified 1.08-mile paved loop course in The Market Common area. Annual event organized by the City of Myrtle Beach Parks & Recreation.

Result: Pat Hasler won the inaugural race with 252.038 km and Emily Lyons won the women's race with 166.951 km, from 79 finishers.
