Dragon's Back Race

Conwy to Cardiff, Wales, UK · Mountain

A legendary 6-day mountain stage race along the spine of Wales, covering technical terrain from Conwy Castle to Cardiff with 16,400m of ascent.

Result: Danny Smith won the 2026 Dragon's Back Race in 46:59:52 and Isobel Turner won the women's race in 67:46:19, with 116 of 152 entrants completing the route to Cardiff Castle.

Transalpine Run

Lenzerheide to Locarno, Switzerland · Mountain

A seven-stage, 258 km crossing of the Swiss Alps from Lenzerheide to Locarno, offered for solo runners and teams of two.

Result: Luis Valle Barrientos won the solo men's classification of the 21st Transalpine Run in 24:17:40 over seven stages, and Laura Hesse won the solo women's category in 34:02:39.

Namib Race

Namib Desert, Namibia · Desert

A 250km, 6-stage self-supported ultramarathon through the Namib Desert — sand dunes, salt pans, dry riverbeds, and gravel plains. Finishes in the coastal town of Swakopmund.

Result: Takuro Kumagai won the Namib Race outright in 26:53:21, with Michaela Punz-Raml the women's winner in 31:05:20.

Beyond the Ultimate Mountain Ultra

Tian Shan Mountains, Kyrgyzstan · Mountain

A 200km self-sufficient mountain ultramarathon across five stages in the Tian Shan range, with altitude, technical terrain, and 10,500m of total ascent.

Result: Tommy Chen won the 2026 Mountain Ultra in 37 hours 13 minutes and Sue Paz-Bylund won the women's race in 42 hours 34 minutes.

Gobi March

Karakorum, Central Mongolia · Desert

The 20th edition of this 250km, 6-stage self-supported race through the Mongolian steppe. Part of the RacingThePlanet 4 Deserts series. Route passes through the UNESCO World Heritage Orkhon Valley.

Result: Elise Lagerstrom won the Gobi March outright in 28:52:37, becoming the first woman to win a 4 Deserts race overall, with Rob Robinson first man in 29:44:48.

Marathon des Sables

Sahara Desert, Morocco · Desert

The 40th edition of the legendary 'Marathon of the Sands.' A 6-stage, 250km self-supported footrace through the Sahara Desert — widely considered the toughest foot race on Earth.

Result: Mohamed El Morabity won the men's race and Maryline Nakache won the women's race at the 40th edition.
