Tara Dower set supported overall fastest known times on the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail before winning the 2025 Javelina Jundred.
Tara Dower is an American ultrarunner whose results connect long-distance trail records with elite 100-mile racing. In September 2024, she completed the Appalachian Trail southbound in 40 days, 18 hours, and 6 minutes, setting the overall supported fastest known time recorded by Fastest Known Time.
Dower followed that performance in August 2025 by completing Vermont’s Long Trail in 3 days, 18 hours, 30 minutes, and 7 seconds. The run lowered the supported overall benchmark on the 272-mile route and was selected as Fastest Known Time’s leading women’s performance of 2025.
Her race record has developed alongside those trail projects. Dower set a women’s course record of 13:31:47 at the 2025 Javelina Jundred, then placed sixth at the 2026 Western States 100 and third at the 2026 Hardrock 100 on consecutive race weekends.
