Johan Steene is a Swedish multiday ultrarunner whose range extends from backyard ultras and fixed-time races to the Barkley Marathons, the Spine Race, and the Last Annual Vol-State 500K.
Steene won Big’s Backyard Ultra in 2018 with 68 completed yards, or 456.008 kilometers. The performance was the event and format benchmark at the time, with Courtney Dauwalter completing 67 yards as the assist.
His fixed-time record is equally substantial. Steene earned bronze at the 2017 IAU 24-Hour World Championships with 266.515 kilometers and won the 2017 EMU Six Day Race with 870.915 kilometers before adding a Vol-State victory in 2022.
