The record so far
Tsai Wen-Ya is a Taiwanese multiday ultrarunner whose results extend from 24 and 48 hours to ten days and the 3,100-mile Self-Transcendence Race.
In her first 3,100-mile start in 2023, Tsai finished in 45 days, 12 hours, 28 minutes, and 44 seconds. She placed third overall and lowered the women’s world record by more than three days, surpassing Kaneenika Janakova’s 2017 mark.
Tsai has continued to produce significant fixed-time results. She won the 2025 Taipei Ultramarathon with 360.405 kilometers in 48 hours, a performance the IAU race report identified as a world age-group record, and represented Chinese Taipei at the 2026 IAU 24-Hour Asia and Oceania Championships.
