The record so far
Camille Herron is an American ultrarunner with championship-level results from 50 kilometers through six days. The International Association of Ultrarunners identifies her as the only athlete to have won its 50 km, 100 km, and 24-hour world championship formats.
Her major road wins include the 2017 Comrades Marathon and the 2023 Spartathlon, where she became the first woman to finish under 24 hours. She has also produced landmark timed-race distances, including 270.116 kilometers at the 2019 IAU 24-Hour World Championship, 435.336 kilometers over 48 hours in 2023, and 901.768 kilometers over six days in 2024.
Her 12:42:40 at the 2017 Tunnel Hill 100 set a women’s 100-mile world record; Caitriona Jennings ran 12:37:04 on the same course in 2025. Her 2019 24-hour distance was a world record at the time, and Patrycja Bereznowska surpassed her 48-hour distance with 436.371 km in 2025. The IAU listed the 2024 six-day result as a world-best performance; Stine Rex covered 928.577 km in 2025, so Herron’s figure is a former rather than a current six-day best, and in September 2026 the IAU reported Megan Eckert’s 1,023.948 km as a new six-day world-best performance still to be ratified. The IAU lists six-day marks as world-best performances rather than ratified world records, while Guinness World Records ratified Rex’s distance as a world record. Herron’s recent results include a 2025 Ice Age Trail 50 Mile win and third place among women at the 2026 Vermont 100.
