Last Soul World Series
Three qualifiers. One final. The same 6.7 km yard, every hour, on three continents before the last soul is decided in Germany.
Last Soul Ultra 2027 is no longer a single race. The organizer has announced qualifiers in the USA (February), the UK (April) and Australia (June), each capped at 200 athletes, followed by a qualification-only Finals in Germany in August 2027. The top 15 overall and top 5 women from each qualifying race advance, and the completed 2026 race already counts as one of them.

01 · What changed
From one German race to a four-stop series
Season 1 in 2025 and Season 2 in 2026 were single backyard ultras in Germany, entered through an organizer lottery. Season 3 spreads the entry stage across three countries. Each qualifier is a full backyard ultra in its own right, with its own last soul, and the strongest results from each one earn a start in the Finals back in Germany.
The scale changes with it. The 2026 race had 160 starters. Three qualifiers at 200 athletes each put up to 600 runners through the format before the Finals, and the organizer lists the Australia stop as “Australia x DCG”. What has not changed is the race itself: one 6.706 km loop per hour, everyone starting together, and a race that ends only when one runner completes a loop nobody else can.

Finish top 15, or top 5 among women
Rule 1
Top 15 overall
The 15 athletes with the most completed loops in each qualifying race earn a Finals place.
Rule 2
Top 5 women
The five women with the most completed loops qualify separately, applied in each race on its own.
Rule 3
Ties count
Everyone tied on loops with 15th overall qualifies. The same applies to everyone tied with the 5th woman. Ties can enlarge the Finals field.
Rule 4
One athlete, one place
Qualify through two races, or through both the overall and women’s standings, and you receive one place. The duplicate does not roll down to the next athlete.
The organizer lists four qualifying races: Last Soul Ultra 2026, then the USA, UK and Australia qualifiers. Twenty places per race before ties and overlaps means a Finals field of up to about 80, and the note that “additional qualification opportunities may be announced” leaves room for more.

Who is already in line for the Finals
Because the 2026 race counts as a qualifying race, the published rule can be applied to its official classification now. Two ties inside the top 15 push the overall group to 16 athletes, and Caroline Maria Bolte qualifies through both lists but holds one place. That leaves 20 athletes, led by winner Mark Dowdle and assist Ello El Osrouti. The organizer has not published a finalist list, so treat this as provisional until it does.

04 · Entry requests
How a race entry works
The organizer’s published six-step process, in order. There is no open registration: every place goes through a request, a selection or draw, and a paid confirmation.
Request under your real name
Sign in with a Last Soul Ultra account and submit the form for an open event. One request per person, under the terms of entry.
Wait for the close
Entry requests close on a deadline that is published per event once it is confirmed. None had been set as of September 20, 2026.
Selection and draw
Places are allocated through a combination of organizer selection and a random draw. Selected athletes are emailed the next steps.
Confirm with your code
Complete the entry within the confirmation window shown for your event, using the code from the selection email.
Payment and confirmation email
Once payment is confirmed a final confirmation email follows. The fee has not been published.
Your spot is secured
With that email you are on the start line. The organizer stresses that a request alone never guarantees a place.
The official FAQ describes the field as international ultrarunners, athletes, well-known sports personalities, content creators and athletes selected through entry requests. That mix is why 50 to 100 of each qualifier’s 200 places are selected by the organizer rather than drawn.
05 · Race conditions
Same format, same self-sufficiency
The official format and FAQ pages describe the conditions below for every World Series event. They match what applied in 2026.
6.706 km every hour
All runners start together on the full hour. No staggered starts, no seeding, no overall time limit. Miss the bell and you are out.
Four crew, three on site
Up to four registered crew members, three on site at a time. Crew may help fully in base camp and never on the course.
3 × 3 metre camp, no power
Each athlete gets a marked square, assigned first come, first served. Water is provided in containers; no electricity and no race support are planned.
No spectators, secret venue
On-site spectators are not allowed and the venue is withheld to keep the event safe. A headlamp is mandatory in twilight and darkness.

When is Last Soul Ultra 2027?
There is no single 2027 race. The organizer has announced a World Series with a USA qualifier in February 2027, a UK qualifier in April 2027, an Australia qualifier in June 2027 and the Finals in Germany in August 2027. Exact dates were not published as of September 20, 2026.
Where will the Last Soul Ultra 2027 races be held?
Only the countries are confirmed: United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Germany. The organizer states that venues are announced once they are confirmed and, as in 2026, may keep the exact site withheld until close to race day for safety and operational reasons.
How do I enter a Last Soul Ultra 2027 qualifier?
Create a Last Soul Ultra account on the official site and submit one entry request under your real name for an open event. Each qualifier has room for 200 athletes; the organizer selects 50 to 100 directly and fills the rest by random draw. Selected athletes are emailed a code and must confirm and pay within a window shown for their event.
Which entries are open right now?
