The record so far

Lizzy Hawker is a British ultrarunner whose career connected championship road racing, major mountain ultras, and independent Himalayan projects. She won the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc five times—in 2005, 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2012—a record of sustained success at the event.

On the road, Hawker won the 2006 IAU 100 km World Cup in Seoul in 7:29:12. At the 2011 Commonwealth Championships in Llandudno, she covered 247.076 km in 24 hours, winning overall and setting a women’s road world record that stood until May 2013.

Her range also included a 2012 Spartathlon victory in 27:02:17, third overall, and repeated long-distance projects in Nepal. Hawker’s own career archive lists a 63-hour, 8-minute run from Everest Base Camp to Kathmandu in 2013 and an independent journey on the high route of the Great Himalaya Trail in 2017.
