Across the Years 10-day champion and Australian 1,000 km record holder
Annabel Hepworth won Across the Years outright with 1,192.156 km in 10 days and holds the Australian women’s 1,000 km record.
Annabel Hepworth is a Sydney-based multiday runner whose best results have come in six- and ten-day races. In 2026 she is making her second attempt at the Self-Transcendence 3,100 Mile Race in New York, which started on August 30 and closes on October 20. As of the organizer’s daily report published on October 12, 2026, she had covered 2,705.2 miles after day 43, fourth on the scoreboard and the leading woman. Along the way she reached 2,000 miles in 31 days, 7 hours, 42 minutes, and 41 seconds, which the organizer reports as a new Australian women’s best.
Her first attempt, in 2024, ended on day 37 at 2,185.95 miles when a right-foot problem forced her to withdraw; the organizer noted she had become only the second Australian woman to run beyond 2,000 miles. She had prepared at that April’s Sri Chinmoy 10 Day Race in New York, finishing first woman and fourth overall with 1,102.476 km, and she won the women’s race at the Sri Chinmoy 10 Day Race in Sofia in 2025 and 2026.
Hepworth’s defining result came at the 2019–20 Across the Years festival in Arizona, where she won the 10-day race outright with 1,192.156 km, ahead of Philip Eberts on 1,062.317 km. Her 1,000 km split of 8 days, 3 hours, 46 minutes, and 53 seconds is still the Australian women’s open record, and the Australian Ultra Runners Association named the run its 2020 Ultra Performance of the Year. She has also won the women’s race at the Adelaide and Australian 6 Day three times, including 742.803 km in 2018—the furthest six-day distance by a woman that year—and won the Across the Years 72-hour race outright in 2021–22 with 352.415 km.
