A useful race calendar needs to distinguish a finish, a cancellation and a future opportunity. Our September 22 review checked the published dates or event windows of all 70 then-active or upcoming listings, investigated Sydney’s finish and added 11 missing races. The findings below are the changes most likely to affect a runner’s next decision.
Sydney: a completed result
Justin Makhlouf won the September edition of Sydney’s Backyard Ultra with 66 yards, recorded as 442.57 km. Lee Warren supplied the assist with 65 yards and 435.87 km. Kim Lueck recorded the most yards among women: 37, or 248.11 km. Those figures come from the official final results.
The distinction between a strong performance and an official finish matters here: Warren and Lueck are marked DNF in the source. Our summary preserves that classification. It does not turn the selected performances into a conventional podium or describe the number of table entries as a verified starter count. Cancellation and calendar correction
Rainshadow Running’s August 8 announcement says the 2026 Teanaway Country races were cancelled because of the Three Queens Fire. The organizer still hopes to run the events in 2027, earlier in summer, but says the dates and routes are to be determined. We have therefore archived the cancelled edition without inventing a replacement date. A past scheduled weekend is not evidence that a race took place.
For Moab, the correction is to our calendar: Destination Trail lists October 9–13, 2026, with a 6 a.m. Friday start and a 10 p.m. Tuesday end. We previously carried October 14 as the end date. This correction does not establish that the organizer changed the race schedule. Runners comparing plans should use the current official window and check the participant instructions for their own arrangements.
The next planning dates
The nearest future addition from this review is Garden City Backyard Ultra. Its organizer lists October 3, 2026, at 7 a.m. at Toowoomba Showgrounds. It is an hourly backyard race, so a starting date should not be interpreted as a fixed finishing date. Check registration separately from the event date.

These windows come from Hardrock’s announcement and the Western States entry process. Applying is not a guaranteed entry. Qualification and selection requirements still apply. The practical task now is to check eligibility and the application dates before treating either race as a confirmed travel commitment.
The 2027 calendar gathers announced editions by month. Use a saved shortlist to compare dates, crew rules and entry requirements. Calendar downloads contain race dates, not lottery deadlines, and they do not update automatically.
How we reported this
This is desk reporting based on the linked organizer publications and our directory review, checked September 22, 2026. It is not an on-course account. We compared dates and status; we did not re-certify every course detail or older result. Seven recently finished listings still lack a verified result summary in our directory. That is a gap in our coverage, not a claim that no official results exist.
Future reports can add the details that a calendar cannot: how an actual crew handover worked, which packed items were used, or what a runner would change next time. Runners and crew can prepare a firsthand report or interview contribution, with the edition, author and supporting evidence attached.
