Plan Zugspitz Ultratrail by UTMB

Use the listed edition as your starting point. Each tool keeps imported race facts separate from the targets and assumptions you choose.

This is a past edition. These details are for reference; confirm a future edition before making a plan.

Edition notes: Heat and thunderstorms shortened the 2026 ZUT100 to 107 km with 5,280 m of climbing, so the 2026 times are not comparable with the full course. Official figures for the full course differ: the 2026 runner guide and race page banner give 166 km and 8,205 m, the race page text 164 km and over 8,300 m, and UTMB’s course data 163.4 km and 8,255 m.

Crew and pacers
Pacers are not allowed. One assistant per runner may help in the area reserved for crews at designated aid stations, handing over one bag of up to 30 liters and giving small care such as a massage or blister treatment while the runner sits, but no medical help. The 2026 runner guide allows crews at Eibsee, Gamsalm, Hämmermoosalm, Arzkasten, Biberwier, Hubertushof, Mittenwald, Schloss Elmau and Hochalm, and not at Pestkapelle, Straßberghaus, Laubhütte or Trögllift. Several stations need a walk: about 20 minutes from the Ponöfen car park to Gamsalm, 30 minutes from the Gaistal car park to Hämmermoosalm, 20 minutes from the toll car park at Elmau, and for Hochalm the Kreuzeckbahn cable car plus a 20-minute walk or 2.5 hours on foot. The organizer provides no transport for supporters and asks them to use public transport. Assistance outside the authorized zones costs one hour, and being accompanied outside the marked zones near aid stations costs 15 minutes. Spectators can watch on the trails of the Garmisch Classic area, which the Kreuzeckbahn and Alpspitzbahn cable cars serve.
Drop bags
Runners get one drop bag and labels at bib pickup, hand it in at the start or at the Convention Center, and collect it at the finish. ZUT100 runners may also send bags to Biberwier (Z13, about km 78) and Schloss Elmau (Z7, about km 130). These come back to the finish, where in 2026 Biberwier bags could be collected from 10:00 PM Friday and Elmau bags from 10:00 AM Saturday. The helmet needed after Biberwier can travel in the Biberwier bag. Bags handed in later than 30 minutes before the start are not transported, poles are not allowed in bags, and unclaimed bags are donated.
