Plan Stone Mill 50 Mile Run

Use the listed edition as your starting point. Each tool keeps imported race facts separate from the targets and assumptions you choose.

Edition notes: DUV lists the 2026 race as the 17th edition. It started at 6:00 AM Eastern on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from Stedwick Elementary School, and the finish closes at 7:00 PM. On race morning MCRRC’s results platform showed the club’s unofficial 2026 results, with split columns for Riffle Ford, the Stone Mill and Riffle Ford again; its source is MCRRC’s 2026 race-result page. RunSignup listed 271 registered participants on race day, against an event cap of 350; DUV lists a 400-runner limit. The race site gives about 4,000 ft of climbing, DUV 1,050 m (3,445 ft). The 2026 date is the first Saturday of November; former race director Barry Hauptman wrote in 2023 that the race moved to the second Saturday in 2016.

Crew and pacers
The organizer names five places to see runners: Route 355, Riffle Ford Road, the C&O Canal at Violette’s Lock (no aid), the Seneca Stone Cutting Mill (park at Riley’s Lock and walk up the towpath) and Route 28 West. It asks supporters not to wait at other stations, which have little parking or space. Longdraught, Quince Orchard and Germantown Road are closed to cars, and Blockhouse Point is closed to cars and spectators. On the towpath, spectators should step aside for cyclists, hikers and other users.
Drop bags
Two drop-bag piles are collected outside the school on race morning: Blockhouse Point Park (mile 23) and Riffle Ford Road (listed as mile 40 on the drop-bag list). Label bags with last name and bib number and keep them small. Both sets come back to the finish.
