- Crew and pacers
- Pacers are permitted from the turnaround, with one included pacer number and optional additional pacers. Runners may have up to four pacers in all (one free, up to three paid). Pacers join at Benvie Gardens, about 80 km in, and can be swapped at major aid stations on the way back; only one may run with the runner at a time, each wears a numbered pacer bib and carries the full compulsory gear list, and pacers may not mule gear, carry the runner's food or water, push or pull. Crews may help only inside marked crew areas at official aid stations and approved support points. Benvie Gardens is closed to vehicles and spectators, and a vehicle there, crew on private land or support between official points can get the runner disqualified. Supporters must use the same gate in and out of Mbona Game Reserve.
- Drop bags
- Each runner may leave two drop bags: one for Suunto Bushwillow (48.5 km out, 112.3 km back) and one for Benvie Gardens (80.4 km). Bags are handed in at registration and are not moved between points. They must be clearly labeled, no bigger than a standard tog bag, and contain powders only, no liquids.
