- Crew and pacers
- Crews can meet runners only at the Lodge and at Black Diamond, a 2.8-mile drive from the Lodge on an open public road; there is no crew access at the Oasis. Crew may enter the Lodge's lower level only while their runner is there. At the campground, about 3.5 miles into each lap, spectators may cheer and hand things to runners who stay on the trail, but runners may not go to vehicles or campsites and pacers cannot join there. Crewing anywhere else can bring a time penalty or disqualification. 100-milers may have one pacer at a time, starting at Black Diamond midway through lap 3 (about mile 52.5) and, from lap 4, also at the Lodge. Muling is banned, and pacers must arrive at aid stations with their runner.
- Drop bags
- The Lodge is the only drop-bag location, so runners reach their bag every 20 miles. Bags sit outside the lower level in a walled shelter; you can carry yours inside to change, but it goes back afterward. A shared table indoors holds liquids that might freeze and medication. Bags are not moved to other stations, and anything left behind after the race is donated to charity rather than shipped.
