Crew and pacers
Only officially registered crew may help, and only in the service zone around the runners’ bungalows and the main refreshment tent; crew may not follow a runner past the last bungalow, which rules out pacing. Crew cannot eat or drink from the runners’ service table. Spectators must register at the campsite, stay in the fan zone and give no help, and a runner who accepts help from them is warned and can be banned. When the field is large, only one crew person per runner is guaranteed a bed in the runner’s bungalow. Runners can also race without a crew: Germany’s Andrea Mehner ran 666 km solo in 2024.
Drop bags
No drop bags. Each runner is assigned a place in a four-person bungalow with kitchen and bathroom a few meters from the loop, which serves as the base for kit, food and sleep. Tents and motorhomes are not allowed as race accommodation.
