- Listed edition
- May 30, 2026 – Jun 2, 2026
- Format
- Backyard Ultra
- Distance
- 6.706 km every hour
- Local start time
- 7:00 AM Saturday, Queensland time. The 2026 race started on Saturday, May 30. The first race in 2021 started at 7:00 AM on Sunday, May 2, after its COVID postponement.
- Duration / cutoff
- Each 6.706 km yard must be finished within the hour, and runners must be on the start line when the next yard begins, with warning bells at three, two and one minutes. A runner who misses either is out, as is anyone who retires. There is no fixed finish: the race runs until one runner is left. That took 66 hours in 2026 and 119 hours in 2025.
- Crew and pacers
- Crews are welcome but must share their runner’s campsite, because space is limited. Between yards runners use whatever is left of the hour to eat, drink, change and use the toilet before the next start.
